I arrive for chemo on Tuesday solo, I had felt good enough to just get dropped off and give Mom and Claire the morning off. Our plan was for them to come around noon, utilize the notary to get my Medical power of Attorney paperwork signed and then get out of there at 2. Not that we anticipate using it, but better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
I have to get my labs drawn before chemo to see if I am healthy enough to receive it and I am. While we were all expecting another 6 hours of infusion, it only turned out to be 45 minutes or so which was cool. What wasnt, is that nobody communicated this to us. I still needed the notary or else I would have just sat there. So I ask the infusion center, who provided the social worker/notary to me at my first visit, to call her so I can sign my papers. The reception desk tells me they dont know what Im talking about, but I want to go downstairs and ask for Paula. I do as instructed, and not shockingly, this reception desk doesnt even think they have a notary at the cancer center. They're wrong as its in the cancer binder and I met the lady but it doesnt make it any less frustrating. They tell me to sit put while they track someone down. 20 minutes go by and my ride shows up. I leave the cancer center because they cant find or dont know who their notary is. Again, just frustrating. Im lucky enough that the MPOA paperwork is just a precautionary thing, but Imagine if it wasnt.
