Its January 14th, 3 days before surgery. After fighting with some administration about scheduling my appointment with reproductive medicine, I was able to get in first thing Monday morning. They like you to have 2 days "rest" in between banking sessions, which meant I had today and Wednesday and that was it. I pull into the office which is on a side street in a nice looking office building. A narrow stairwell on the side of the building leads you up into the waiting room of reproductive med. I checked in at the window and was ushered back into the hallway where there was 2 chairs across from the doorway to a lab. I was told to take a seat. A bald guy in a white coat come out and told me how this all needed to run down and gave me 2 cups. Pee in one, little Stos' in the other, simple enough. I then imagine hes going to lead me to some Gringots type vault thats set up like a recording studio with noise cancelling panels and 3 layers of security. Boy was I wrong. We took 3 steps down the hall and he opened a small 10x10 room, about the size of the "family Bathrooms" at sporting events or rest stops. The bald man tells me theres "material" in the basket and in the dvd player and to come out when Im finished. I shut the door, its hollow and weighs as much as a piece of paper and is feet from the waiting room. One wall apparently shares a room with some lady who gets 20 phone calls an hour, the other wall is shared by the lab and the bald guy. Fantastic, what now. Obviously I need to see what "material" the bald guy was talking about. I have attached photos to what I affectionately referred to as my jerk off room to my friends. I'll spare you the details but I was able to complete the process and I dropped off the cups to the lab. He says he needs to wait for the sample to liquefy before he can check viability, and might be able to give me results after I get my labs taken. So to the end of the hall I went, where some bad ass old school nurse drew my blood and made some small talk that somehow made this whole thing less awkward. As I'm putting my coat on, saying goodbye to the new friend I had made, the bald guy pops his head in the room and says that I have swimmers.

This was a HUGE relief. First of all, no ones ever checked before, so at least now we know, but second, there was some concern that because of the size of the tumor that it could cause some issues. I triumphantly head home and tell Claire the good news, we both laugh over our morning coffee. We spend the next 2 days getting the house ready for Mom to say with us and for me to come home to after surgery. Wednesday morning means another appointment with the jerk off room. This time I was smart enough to bring noise cancelling headphones, it didnt make it any easier. Mom shows up a few hours before Dad and Tammy. We get mom settled in, and get Dad directions to his hotel. We all meet up at my place for some pizza and wings the night before surgery. A few of my buddies stopped over to check on me and then it was time for bed.
